Photoventure with BJ

Last weekend BJ and I set off on a little photoventure together. We set off from our house, on foot, and took lots of pictures together, and picked up lots of treasures together. It was a nice hour away from it all. I swear, I turn him into a photography buff yet.

Still looking for letters. Here's our J.

Cool fossil.

Our treasures. Can you believe BJ had most of this in his pockets!
When we got back, we decided to do sidewalk chalk body outlines.
More to come on the bar. Soon :)

real life adventures catches up

I don't know if you've noticed, but the only time I blog lately is to weigh-in on Wednesdays with the Sisterhood, or to post my fabulous You Capture pictures on Thursdays. I've scrolled down and that's pretty much all I see. Trust me, this blog's intention isn't to be a weight loss/photography blog, although I would love to lose the rest of this stubborn weight and take pictures pretty much ALL DAY LONG.

But I digress. This blog is a record for me, a record of my family and our real life adventures, and there are so many. So many that I haven't blogged about, and that kinda makes me a little sad. One day when I'm old and senile, I won't remember all those adventures unless they're documented here and in photos. I don't have a problem with the photos, but I do need to story to go along with them.

So bear with me while I scroll back through Picassa and relive a few of our recent adventures.

First up is a fabulous shot I took of the full moon back on April 8th. I've been hoping Beth would pick a night shot for You Capture (hint hint):

And here we have some fun Easter egg dying and hunting shots. This year the Easter bunny took mercy on mommy and her diet and didn't bring much candy. The kids didn't seem to notice!
The weekend after Easter, BJ had an out of town t-ball game, so we decided to make a fun weekend of it! We stayed in Bandera, Texas and did lots of good eating and sight seeing!

And to top this post off, I'll leave you with some great shots I took when my friend Amanda visited last week. Her and the boys came down for a couple of days that ended up being a whole 5 days (due to car troubles). Our boys had a rough go of it, but she and I had the best time ever! We're already planning our next photography road trip sans kids! Did I mention she's a photographer with mad skillz? FOR REAL! I had my very own personal photography trainer at my disposal for a week. She's the best ever!

This tree? I could make out with it for hours and hours and hours. I photographed it for the very first You Capture. Remember? It was magnificent! Now it's budding out and I'm still in love.
And another tree with a very cool perspective. I love the colors, straight out of camera, as all of my shots are since I don't have Photoshop installed right now!

Amanda and her boys!
Okay, it's obvious I love trees, so I'll leave you with a picture of Lovey Bluebird!

You Capture - Spring

Photobucket

It's Thursday, which can only mean one thing! You Capture day over at I Should Be Folding Laundry! That's right, last week, Beth issued the challenge of capturing Spring. Again, I'm a procrastinator, so I just grabbed my camera and caught a couple of things around my house. Outside.

I love, love, love wild flowers. Love them. I guess they're technically weeds, but I embrace them. My son picks them by the handful. I have little glasses and vases all over my house full of yellow, purple, and yellow beauties. Some white ones, too! Like this one. Bear with me because the wind was blowing wicked hard when I snapped this one. You'll see a little blur on some of the petals, but I think it looks cool! I did a quick crop and adjusted the contrast just a tad, but that's it for editing!

I also love that we live in a semi-dessert climate and can have cacti (yes, that's the plural for cactus) growing all around. This time of year, many are blooming. Here is my favorite! My dessert beauty, in all of it's coral beauty against the bluest of blue skies. This is the first year she's bloomed (I planted 2 years ago), and I was thrilled to see the long stalk reaching toward the sky last week!

No editing on this one, besides a quick crop!

Be sure to stop by Beth's and check out some of the other marvelous Spring captures! Thanks so much for stopping by!!!

The hills are alive

Remember way back in the fall when I wrote this post. When I wished time would slow down so I could enjoy the ride? Well, lo and behold, time didn't slow down, it actually flew at a breakneck pace, and here we are.

It's spring!

When I step out on my front porch my senses are assaulted with Spring. Don't get me wrong, it's a good assualt! The hills are alive with the sounds of chirping birds, butterflies flitting about, hummingbirds zipping around, bees buzzing, trees budding, grass growing, flowers blooming. I love to stand on my front porch and look out across the hills and see the light green of trees, newly alive with tender leaves. WOW!

The swallows are back! And I cannot wait to plant my vegetable garden this week! I picked up all the new seeds last week and they're calling to me. BJ's first T-ball game is this weekend!

Although fall is my favorite season, Spring gives me hope, it makes me happy, it warms my heart. I'd better enjoy it while I can, though. Because our Spring lasts about 2 weeks and then we're full on Summer around these parts. Well, at least the temperatures feel like full on Summer.
